Gemco Valve has long been a proponent of environmental responsibility. A prime example of this is their valve recycling program. Customers are able to purchase a reconditioned valve at a price discounted 50% or more of the cost of a new valve. Gemco Valve also offers customers the option to have an older valve, inspected and evaluated to determine its suitability for recycling or reconditioning. All rebuilt valves are fully tested and carry the standard warranty. Unusable components are recycled in an environmentally responsible manner and typically the scrap value covers any cost involved with the recycle program.
Gemco Valve President, Jim Lenihan says, “Recycling is ecologically and economically sound. It’s a way to improve production performance for our customers and to re-use valves that otherwise might be scrapped. The program also helps maintenance and plant managers get the most from their budgets during these challenging economic times.”
In addition to their recycling program, Gemco has been looking for other ways to enhance Green principles. So this fall, when the decision was made to renovate their management offices, they chose eco-friendly low VOC paints and carpeting that was installed with glue that also emits fewer chemicals.
Most recently Gemco Valve has added special reserved parking with a charging station for plug-in employees. “It’s the right thing to do – we all benefit from reducing waste and pollutions.” said Lenihan.
